I asked the Mix 94.9 listeners on Facebook where they were when the world stood still 13 years ago today...

@Kim DavisIn my high school Spanish class, the teacher walked in and said, "it's a sad world we live in people". We spent the rest of the day watching the news coverage on TV in each class.

@Mary Kelly HetlandAt the eye doctor when the first tower was hit. By the time I got home the second tower was hit. I spent the next half day in the dark because I was doing daycare for the kids next door and couldn't have the tv on in front of them (especially with what was going on) Plus no smart phones! It was so frustrating.

@John F. JonesIn the same huge, highly explosive, highly targeted chemical plant I'm in now, working. I remember planes flying over patrolling the area. Pretty scary. Not long after a cab driver was pulled over that was from Houston (2 hours away) with a map that had multiple places marked on it...including this plant. He said he was in the area "dropping off a fare". Fool your from 2 hrs away!!

@Jason Jacobs In one of my 8th grade classes. We learned about it from our civics teacher and listened to the radio reports throughout the morning.

@Vicky Laffey Jensen - I was at work at the time...we all thought it was some weird, sick joke they were talking about on the radio. I think we were just in shock and couldn't believe what they were saying. When the second plane hit, we knew it was real and wasn't just an accident.

@Theresa Brackin Hutton-WalshI was taking the kids to school. When I got home I turned on the TV and saw our lives unfold in front of me. My husband was a fireman during 9-11, he was supposed to be on leave.

@Diann Fussy-HulsWorking in our dairy barn when a sales rep stopped out. He asked if we had heard about what happened in New York. I ran to the house, flipped on the tv just in time to see the second plane hit. I fell to my knees and cried. I couldn't believe what I was seeing! Our milk hauler lost his brother in the Pentagon that day. It was his last day before retiring. He was scheduled to work until noon. It was truly an awful day for America and we will never forget the brave men and women that did the best they could to save lives. May those we lost rest in peace!

@Rendi Dalton - I was a freshman in high school at Apollo I was walking into my first class of the day. I saw it on TV and thought it was an accident but later I found out it was done on purpose. I will never forget this awful day.

@Melanie Pauls - I was driving to work and all of the chaos and disbelief on the area radio stations was amazing.
