New Music Recap: Ariana Grande “7 Rings”
There's new music this week on Mix 94.9!
Just two weeks after its release, Ariana Grande's latest single "7 Rings" has made airplay on Mix 94.9.
"7 Rings" is Grande's second song to debut at #1 on Billboard's Hot 100 Chart, following "Thank You, Next" which did so just months back. Billboard also reports that "7 Rings" is the 33rd single to debut at #1, making Grande the fifth artist with multiple #1 starts.
Despite its short lifespan, it hasn't gone without its fair share of controversy, though. Rapper Soulja Boy accused the "Sweetener" artist of stealing the "flow" from his 2010 hit "Pretty Boy Swag;" rapper Princess Nokia claims Grande stole her sound from 2017 track "Mine;" and rapper 2 Chainz noticed similarities between the hot pink trap house in her "7 Rings" music video and his music video for "Door Swangin'."
On top of those claims, Grande has also been accused of cultural appropriation for her line "You like my hair? Gee, thanks, just bought it..."
