You might notice a few of your neighbors displaying a teal pumpkin on their doorstep. Although it looks like a trendy fall decoration, it is there for a reason!

The Teal Pumpkin Project was started as a way for all kids to have a good time trick-or-treating on Halloween. Homes with a teal pumpkin on their doorstep are "food allergy aware" and offer things other than candy for trick-or-treaters with food allergies. Most candy is off limits to kids with nut or gluten allergies and can leave them feeling left out. By offering alternatives like small toys or glow sticks, every kid will be able to have a great Halloween!

To participate in the Teal Pumpkin Project you only need to do a couple things! Paint a pumpkin teal, place it on your doorstep, and have candy alternatives for the kids! It is that simple!
