Every year I like to put together special trick-or-treat bags for my neighborhood kids. I loved getting something different than the usual fun sized candy as a kid, and I want to share that joy with this generation.

I also found out this year that I myself have a milk allergy, and I want to cater more towards the kids that have allergies too. Halloween isn't an easy time for them, so many candies contain milk, nuts, and other big allergy triggers. I know I've been struggling with this new allergy, and I don't want those kids that are like me to be left out.

Last year I put together goodie bags with Fun Dip and Dum-Dum suckers. This year I thought I would go a little lighter on the sugar spectrum.

This year my trick-or-treat bags include:

  • A Halloween pencil
  • A Halloween shaped pencil eraser
  • A mini box of Halloween stickers
  • Smarties
  • Sweettarts

I can't totally leave candy out of them, it is Halloween after all. Plus what kid doesn't love stickers? And this time of year it doesn't hurt to add a new pencil to the rotation at school. Wonka Sweettarts and Smarties are both free of key allergens like dairy and tree nuts.

If you are looking to go allergy friendly for Halloween this year, here is a list of some candies that fall under that umbrella. Happy Halloween!
