CLEARWATER -- The Minnesota Department of Transportation has postponed the road closures as part of the Highway 24 bridge replacement project.

The intermittent closures were to begin Monday as beams were to be delivered to the construction site. However, MnDOT says all lanes will remain open until further notice while crews wait for Mississippi River water levels recede below the project's temporary causeway.

The new bridge is expected to open in the summer of 2018 and will replace the existing bridge which is nearly 60 years old.
