Ava Max's "Sweet By Psycho" is now playing on Mix 94.9!

Music runs in Ava Max's family -- her mother was an opera singer, her father played piano, and her uncles were in bands. She herself, according to Vanity Fair, was a huge Britney Spears fan and wanted to pursue pop music.

So she did.

Ava Max -- whose real name is Amanda Koci -- has been compared to pop stars like early Lady Gaga and Katy Perry. In fact, she got her start working with producer Cirkut who was responsible for hits like Katy Perry's "Roar," Kesha's "Die Young," and Miley Cyrus's "Wrecking Ball." She's sung on tracks with David Guetta and Jason Derulo. But it was her hit single "Sweet By Psycho" that launched her solo success.

Originally uploaded to SoundCloud, she told Vanity Fair, “I’m not even kidding you, we got e-mails from record labels wanting to talk [just from that song].”

"Sweet But Psycho" has since topped multiple foreign charts including the UK, Germany, Latvia and New Zealand, though it's only peaked at #35 on the US Billboard Hot 100 Chart.
