The Mall of America is working to put the shopping emphasis back on Black Friday. In the past years the stores seemed to open earlier and earlier, completely taking away from Thanksgiving. MOA has been open every Thanksgiving day since 2012 but this year they changed the plan.

Mall officials decided it is more important for employees to spend the holiday with their families, and I agree! I wish they would have done this when I worked there!

In addition to the mall not being open, the movie theater located there as well as Nickelodeon Universe theme park will not be in operation.

The mall will still host the annual Walk to End Hunger that happens on Thanksgiving morning. The community event has been going on for eight years and helps provide food to families in need. Totally OK with that still going on!

Sales for the weekend are expected to be consistent with previous years and the mall is expecting 400,000 visitors this holiday season.
