Local 411- Blood Donation Opportunities

Mix 949 and The American Red Cross encourage eligible donors to give blood during Liver Awareness Month this October.

OCTOBER IS LIVER AWARENESS MONTH

More than 6,000 liver transplants are performed each year in the U.S.  Patients may require more than 30 pints of blood during those surgeries.  Volunteer donors are the only source of blood for those in need of transfusions during surgery.

WHAT TYPES OF BLOOD ARE NEEDED

All types of blood are needed, especially those with types O negative, A negative and B negative.  All of the individuals who attempt to donate blood during the month of October will be eligible to win a $5,000 Visa gift card.

HOW TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT

To make an appointment to donate, you can download the new Red Cross Blood Donor App, or text BLOODAPP to 90999 to receive a download link.  You can also visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED-CROSS.

Saint Cloud-October 7th- 1 to 7 pm:  Atonement Lutheran Church,1144 29th Ave. N.

Sauk Centre-October 1st- 1 to 7 pm: Our Lady Of The Angels, 207 S 7th St.

Melrose-October 15th- 1 to 7 pm- American Legion, 265 E County Road 173

Cold Spring-October 13th- 1 to 7 pm- St. Boniface Catholic Church Parish Center, 501 West Main Street

Belgrade-October 1st-  9 am to 2pm- Belgrade High School, 710 Washburn Ave. SE
