Maple Lake is a town with a population of 2,159 located in northern Wright County in Central Minnesota. Highway 55 and County Road 8 are the main access points to the city. To help tell the story of Maple Lake I was joined by volunteer archivist Sue Sylvester from the Maple Lake Library and former Wright County Archivist Betty Dircks.

Pheasant hunting opens in Minnesota Saturday October 12 and goes until January 1. Glen Schmitt from Outdoor News joined me on WJON to give everyone some suggestions so they can have a successful pheasant hunt.

St. Cloud State is planning an open house October 17-19. They are calling it the biggest open house of the year. The event is called "Discover Red & Black" and it gives prospective students a true open house experience in discovering what St. Cloud State has to offer.

St. Cloud State announced this summer that they plan to demolish unused academic buildings and residence halls when the money becomes available to do so. SCSU Interim President Larry Dietz joined me on WJON.

Election Day is just 4 weeks away and Stearns County Officials sat down with me on WJON to talk about the process and important things voters should know. The St. Cloud State men's hockey team is set to begin the season with an exhibition game against the Gophers Saturday night at 6 p.m. The game will be played at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. Division I hockey was made possible in part by the efforts of Herb Brooks.

Are pigeons are real problem in parts of St. Cloud? It really seems to depend on who ask. During today's radio town hall meeting with St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis more than one listener expressed concern over pigeons wreaking havoc on their property.

Northwestern Minnesota has a fair amount of elk. The elk hunt in Minnesota took place from September 21-29. Glen Schmitt from Outdoor News says only 10 permits were available to hunters and he says 8 elk were shot. Schmitt explains all 8 were male, bull elk.

The 3rd annual LEDGEtober Flannel Fest will take place from 2-7pm Saturday October 5 at the Ledge Amphitheater in Waite Park. Ledge Facility Event Supervisor Meredith Lyon, and performers Ted Manderfeld (Deuces Wild) and Michael Shynes joined me on WJON to talk about the event. Lyon says Flannel Fest is "going to another level in 2024".

St. Cloud School District 742 has been working on an addition to McKinley School which includes 4 classrooms, small group areas and restrooms. This improvement will include a dedicated entrance for their middle level students.
