Sartell Police Bike Rodeo Hopes To Rope Kids In

SARTELL (WJON News) -- Kids can learn some bike safety, have fun, and interact with Sartell Police on Wednesday. The Sartell Police Department is holding its annual Bike Rodeo at Lions Park from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Police officers will be on hand to educate children about bike safety, and help with bike tune-ups and helmet fittings. There will also be a bike obstacle course, free hotdogs, a bounce house, and more. Sartell High School Resource Officer Rob Lyon says the event is all about interacting with the kids:

"Engagement with the youth that's in town also promoting bike safety, wearing helmets, getting the proper size of helmets. It's more just getting everyone out and about and engaging with the students."

Lyon says the event is geared towards kids ages 8 to 13 but anyone can attend and they will have prizes to give away like bike helmets and a new bike.

The Bike Rodeo coincides with Walk, Bike & Roll Day which is a day used to encourage kids to take their bike to school.
