
Elk River Man Hurt In Collision With Semi
MONTICELLO - A 21-year-old Elk River man was hurt when the car he was riding in collided with a semi. The Minnesota State Patrol says it happened just before 1:30 a.m. Sunday on Highway 25 in Wright County near Monticello.
A semi pulling a trailer was going south on Highway 25 making a U-turn in designated turn area when a Volkswagen Passat going south struck it on the left side.
David Westpahl of Elk River was taken to Monticello hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the car and another passenger were not hurt, 21-year-old Luke Palmer of Big Lake and 21-year-old Jaymes Jarnagin of Monticello.
The Minnesota State Patrol says alcohol was a factor in the crash.
The semi driver, 38-year-old Luke Reichert of of Andover, was also not hurt.
