The second stop on my "Day-Cation" tour was at Camp Ripley to tour the Minnesota Military Museum. Camp Ripley is a state-owned 53,000 acre military training center located on the Mississippi River just seven miles north of Little Falls.  While primarily used as a National Guard facility, it provides year-round training for all military service branches.  The museum houses over 50,000 artificats including uniforms, weapons, equipment, insignia /flags, training aids, and unique personal items.  The museum reference library on military history contains over 12,000 non-circulating books, manuscripts, and pamphlets, including military technical and field manuals.

Some of the permanent exhibits inside the museum on display include America at War, State Forces and Minnesotans who have received the Medal of Honor.  The very cool outdoor exhibits include tanks, planes, helicopters and more.  In some cases you can go inside and walk on top of them.  The museum features a special exhibit currently on Minnesota's Two Cival Wars 1861-1866.

Complete with a gift shop and resource center, the Minnesota Military Museum at Camp Ripley is a must see for any family and preserves our states rich military history from over the years.  The museum is located (7) miles north of Little Falls at Camp Ripley.  From U.S. Highway 10 go east to 115 and enter at the main gate (bring ID).  For more information on Camp Ripley or the Minnesota Military Museum Click Here
