SAUK RAPIDS - It was a chicken wing paradise in Sauk Rapids on Saturday for WingFest 2014.

Thousands came out to attend WingFest, 36,000 chicken wings were ready for sampling at the event. $1 was good for two wings from any sauce maker.

Dozens of local vendors competed at the event for the best tasting sauce. Both amateur and pro wing sauce makers competed in separate divisions with the pro winner getting free advertising and the amateur winner getting gift certificates.

Jason Strickland with Demon Pig BBQ was competing at Wingfest, he says the crowd at the event was incredible.

"I'm loving this so far, it's been a great turn out and it just got started," Strickland says.

Over 5,000 people were expected to attend WingFest and came with a huge appetite. The 36,000 chicken wings ran out only 2.5 hours into the event. Jon Bigalk with Just North of Memphis BBQ in Clearwater says it was amazing to see the turnout at the event.

"The response has been incredible, I'm just hoping I have enough chicken wings," Bigalk said with a smile.
