There have been a few drowning cases in Minnesota this summer. Some Minnesota residents feel like there should be more lake supervision from lifeguards at Minnesota lakes and beaches.

It's not typical to have lifeguards on duty when it's not a paid facility, like a public wading pool. Personally, I feel like it should be the parent's job to watch their children closely whenever they're at a beach or a lake. Parents should make sure that their children are always wearing life jackets and aren't venturing too deep into the water if they aren't strong enough swimmers.

When I was a kid I was always required to have a life jacket and swim with a buddy. If there wasn't an adult watching me at all times, I just wasn't allowed to swim. I think that more parents need to keep a better eye on their kids.

Do you think there should be more lifeguards on duty at Minnesota lakes and beaches?
