Rice City Council Looking To Improve 30-Year-Old Road
RICE -- The Rice City Council will look to improve a section of road near the elementary school during Monday's council meeting.
The council will vote whether or not to do some construction along 2nd Avenue and 3rd Avenue Northeast.
Council Member Chris Scheel says the road is in rough shape and the section most need of repair.
"If you drive down it, it has tons of patches and I think it's well over 30-years old. It just needs to be totally redone and improved."
Scheel says the city has been looking at improving the road for the last two years. The project could cost between $150,000 to $200,000 for the repairs.
"We have a drainage problem along both sides of the road, so we would correct the drainage problem and would resurface both parts of the road."
If approved construction would begin in the next several weeks with hopes to be completed by the start of the school year.
