When I was little, I used to watch "The Andy Griffith Show" all the time with my Grandma.  That theme song is also the very reason that I learned how to whistle, in fact.

Andy Griffith passed away yesterday, at the age of 86.  Suffice it to say, we lost a good one.  and he was a guy that many of us have been watching on TV our whole lives.

Do you know how many episodes of  "Matlock" I have watched?

ALL OF THEM.

Griffith began his TV career on "The Ed Sullivan Show" and originally teamed up with longtime collaborator Don Knotts in Broadway's No Time for Sergeants. The two later went on to star as Sheriff Andy and Deputy Barney Fife on "The Andy Griffith Show" from 1960-1968.

He later played defense lawyer 'Ben Matlock' on the show, "Matlock", for another 18 plus years.

People also forget, he was very talented musically. He was a Grammy award-winning southern gospel singer, and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from George W. Bush, in 2005.

He is a man that my grandmother loved, my mom loved, I loved, and even my son liked his shows.  That's touching four generations.

Andy Griffith will be missed.
