5 Best Christmas Movies You Need to Watch this Christmas Season
Tis the season for Christmas movies!
From classics like It's a Wonderful Life to B-rated Hallmark films, Christmas comedies like Home Alone to dark Christmas flicks like The Nightmare Before Christmas, you could probably watch 2-3 movies a day every day of December if you had the time and will power.
You've probably got a list of your own favorites; I thought I'd share mine for some family movie-night inspiration this Holiday season.
5. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964)
From an all-star cast of voice actors like Burl Ives and Larry D. Mann to lovable characters and a heart-warming story-line, there's nothing to love about this 1964 Christmas classic. Coming in at just a 47-minute run time, this one's easy to fit in. Better still - you could watch Rudolph in your light-up Abominable Snowman sweater.
4. It's a Wonderful Life (1946)
In a time when suicide seems far too prevalent, this comedy-drama with lessons in love and redemption may carry a louder message today than the day it was intended for.
3. A Christmas Story (1983)
A Christmas Story is a Christmas staple. You can't hear the words "Red Rider BB Gun" or "You'll shoot your eye out!" or "fudge" and not know exactly what they're referring to. If nothing else, this one is worth watching with the kids every year to dissuade them from sticking their tongue to a frozen pole. Unfortunately, I can say didn't see it enough as a kid...
2. The Polar Express (2004)
If not for another fantastic cast, this one is worth watching for the incredible CGI effects. I couldn't believe how well done The Polar Express was the first time I watched it through. Another heartwarming story, this one follows the magical journey of a boy beginning to lose his faith, something we can all relate to at one time or another.
1. Elf (2003)
As far as favorite Christmas movies goes, this one takes the cake. I could watch Elf every day of December every year and never tire. Clever, hilarious, and family-friendly with a brilliant cast and plot, this one doesn't fall short in any regards. So many memorable lines and references...
