SAUK CENTRE -- It will take 18 days and last over ten-thousand miles, but one local man is determined to raise money and awareness for a local non-profit.

Mike Spaude  is riding across the continental US to raise money for the Eagle's Healing Nest, a non-profit out of Sauk Centre that helps veterans with mental health issues.

Spaude says, the 18 days are the quickest he can get the ride done.

"I looked at it, took over a week to lay [the trip] out. I figured about 12 hours a day driving, and I had to make sure the dealers would be open when I came..."

He adds, the nest is hoping to add a new branch soon.

"Right now we're in the process of getting one more building renovated this fall, we call that the 'dog house' because that will be our place for veterans with service dogs."

Spaude says with the pledges he's already hit his ten-thousand dollar goal, but encourages more donations to the organization.

Spaude will be collecting a poker chip from a Harley dealer in every state, along with a t-shirt for a quilt to be auctioned off later.
