Would You Pay-Off Your Kid to NOT Have a Grad Party? [Poll]

This past weekend we held my sister's high school graduation party. A lot of prep work went into it and stress levels ran high but in the end it all worked out fine. Most things like that usually do.

There has been a recent trend of parents paying-off their kids instead of throwing grad parties. The idea behind it is just to give the kids roughly the same amount of cash they would have received in grad cards to avoid the stress of actually throwing a party. There were a couple times over the weekend where I was thinking that would've been a pretty great idea.

The downside to that is missing out on seeing friends and family that you don't regularly get to visit with. My sister's Godmother, who lives in Arizona, made a surprise special trip up to MN just for it. If my parents would have paid my sister off, she never would have had that moment.
