SARTELL -- The Sartell City Council and Sartell School Board held a joint meeting Monday to get a look at some options for improving Pinecone Road out to the site of the new high school.

SEH presented a number of improvement options with the focus primarily on what types of intersection designs should be included at 27th Street North, the high school driveway, and at 35th Street North.

City Administrator Mary Degiovanni says the work session was to consider topics like roundabouts or traffic signals, trails, and safety.  She says next up will be a feasibility study to determine a project design and costs.  The report will then go before the city council for consideration.

School Superintendent Jeff Schwiebert was glad to see the collaboration by the school board and city council.  He says both the new high school and improvements to Pinecone Road are important to the community.  He was thankful the city council was willing to listen to school board members' concerns and ideas.

Construction on Pinecone Road is expected to begin in the spring of 2018 with completion slated in time for the new school to open in the fall of 2019.
