Will Minnesota Locations of this Restaurant Chain Be Next for Closure?
As we draw to the close of the year, companies are working on budgets for next year. As we all know, there have been some challenges this year which have impacted what the coming year will look like for some companies.
A company with several restaurants in Minnesota has closed 50 locations this week alone. TGI Fridays made the cuts earlier this week, and in case you weren’t aware, those aren’t the only cuts the company has had recently.
At the beginning of this year, there were 270 Friday’s locations around the country, now they’re down to 164. Experts are guessing these moves are leading up to a bankruptcy filing at some point in the restaurant chain’s future.
Most restaurants had some ground to gain coming out of covid, and some had to make adjustments to their menus due to supply issues.
Some restaurants went to cheaper menu options and that’s one of the biggest reasons experts say that TGI Friday’s is closing stores, they’re not getting the same amount of business as before with everything else costing more and some restaurants being able to offer less expensive options.
The store locator for TGI Fridays says there are still seven locations still in Minnesota open, including in Maple Grove, Coon Rapids, and Minneapolis. Of course there are some in neighboring states as well.
How long those individual locations will continue to operate remains to be seen. The immediate plans of filing bankruptcy have not been revealed as of yet, and it’s not certain that is the plan.
The future of what was one of America’s most popular restaurant chains is very much up in the air for 2025 for sure.
