WAITE PARK -- Planing the future of the Waite Park library is the topic of discussion during Monday's work session.

The council and the Great River Regional Library will be discussing future service and facility needs to shape the library over the next five to ten years.

Great River Regional Libary Executive Director Karen Pundsack says the conversation began when the St. Cloud location was closed this past summer due to arson.

"The level of activity in the Waite Park library doubled in a week. We really struggled to make sure they had all the materials they needed and room for the staff to work. It definitely showed there is room to grow," says Pundsack.

The library board is also requesting each branch library sign a new Library Service Agreement so the library can be more consistent with the services they provide.

"Many of our locations haven't been updated since 2002. We had 17 different versions so we are working to have one unified agreement with the cities we serve so we can be consistent in how those services are delivered," says Pundsack.

Pundsack says this is just the early stages of the conversation. No action will be taken by the council at this time.
