A blood test that should be available in Europe by the end of the year could give you a pretty good indication of how fast you are aging and how much longer you will live.

I'm not so sure that I would call this a medical 'advance'.

The test measures telomeres, structures on the end of each of your chromosomes, which scientists think may hold the key to determining a person's "true age."

I've been in and out of the hospital my whole life, and I've never even heard of  'telomeres'.

Research has linked shorter than average telomeres to shorter than average lifespans. However, at this point, there is little evidence suggesting that having longer than average telomeres means you are going to live longer.

So.......it's complete B.S. then?  If your telomeres are short, that means a short lifespan - but if they're long, that means....nothing apparently.  I'm confused.

But if you're not, and you happen to be the kind of person that wants to know exactly when your life will end - the test will cost about $700.  If I could afford that, I would do it just for fun to see what the test would say.

If that's a little out of your price range as well, I'll give you a "not so honest" self evaluation for only $50.
