This breaks my little small town heart.

The Thunder Lodge Sports Bar on Hwy 71 in Long Prairie made the announcement on Sunday night that they would be closing their doors effective immediately.

The Facebook post read:

Thunder Lodge is closed until a new owner is found.

I know this is a shock and will be an adjustment.

Thunder will be open on Sunday September 15th from 11 am - 10 pm for the Vikings- Packer game and the LP Lions raffle.

We will be open for all the groups/meetings that are scheduled.

Thank you for your years of patronage!

This place was owned by my best friend's father, and we spent many long nights chatting and laughing over cold drinks. The Thunder Lodge was the definition of a small town bar, everyone knew everyone, people had their favorite bar stools, there were always raffle tickets being sold for various fundraisers. One of my favorite events they put on every year was Ice Bowling on Lake Charlotte behind the bar. And who can forget all the fun deer hunting stories that are shared when everyone gets down from the stands on opening weekend. The sense of community that came along with the building is something that is impossible to duplicate.

The Thunder Lodge will remain open for scheduled meetings and events. Hopefully it finds itself a new owner that will treat it just as great as the previous one did. Thank you for all the years of fun, Thunder Lodge! Hope to see you again soon!
