WAITE PARK -- The weather couldn't have been any better for the first day of the Waite Park Family Fun Fest. So far the week is off to a great start with today's (Sunday) artisan showcase and tractor show.

Garrett Doucette of Upsala with the Greater Minnesota 2 Cylinder Club says they've doubled the amount of tractors this year from last year's show.

"We had only five tractors last year, this year we're up to 11 so we did a little better this year," says Doucette.

Doucette and his family are no strangers to restoring tractors.

"This is my 1938 John Deere B, my dad my grandpa and I restored it in 1992 when I was about 8-9 years old."

Doucette says what's great about the show is being able to learn about the history of the tractors.

"I like getting together with the people that worked the machinery, obviously this is a little before my time, it's something I enjoy, it's hearing about the guys that actually used them like when I got to talk to my grandpa and my dad about when they had theirs on the farm."

The tractors weren't the only hit of the show, the artisan showcase had plenty to offer.

Pat Steinle owner of Pat's Sew Classy in Swanville keeps coming back to the show every year.

"I have felted mittens, I have purses, hats, slippers, childrens mittens, headbands, just about everything," says Steinle.

Waite Park Family Fun Fest continues throughout the week with a different event each day. For the complete event schedule click here.
