A recent study has found Minnesota to be the third-best state in the country when it comes to finding and having a job.

WalletHub based its study on six main factors: job opportunities, monthly average starting salary, unemployment rate, median annual income, average length of work week and average commute time.

Minnesota was at the top of the rankings for unemployment rate (2.7%) and had the third-highest median household income at $82,000.

The Land of 10,000 Lakes ranked 19th in average monthly starting salary ($3,900) and 13th-most job opportunities per capita.

WALLETHUB:

“Living in one of the best states for jobs can provide stable conditions for the long-term, helping you ride out the fluctuations that the economy will experience in the future. The best states for jobs make it easier for residents to find and retain jobs, and employers in these states also offer very competitive compensation and benefits," said WalletHub's Chip Lupo.  "In addition, the top states are great places for people looking to raise a family, ranking among the best states for working parents.”

The top state to find a job per WalletHub is New Hampshire, which ranked first in job market, while second-best was Vermont.

In the Midwest, North Dakota ranked fifth, South Dakota ninth, Wisconsin 11th and Iowa 28th.

The five worst states for jobs were West Virginia, Louisiana, Indiana, Kentucky and Alaska.
