Minnesota is among the best states in the country for women according to WalletHub. A recent study using factors like women's social and economic well-being and women's health care/safety found Minnesota to be behind only Massachusetts when it comes to quality of life for women.

The study found Minnesota to have the second-highest median income for women at $44,526 when adjusted for the cost of living. In addition, Minnesota has the fourth-lowest unemployment rate among women at 10%.

Minnesota's women also boast a high number of high school graduates and the second-highest voter turnout rate in 2020. Women in the Land of 10,000 Lakes also rank highly in the metrics of 'good or better' health and have the fifth-highest life expectancy for women.

“Despite improvements the U.S. has made over the years, women still lag behind men when it comes to economic prospects, executive positions and political representation," said WalletHub analyst Milvionne Chery Copeland. "On top of tackling these important issues, the best states for women also ensure that they have access to high-quality health care, receive the same educational opportunities as men, and live in safe communities.”

Minnesota was in the top spot in the 'Women's Economic and Social Well Being" category and seventh in "Women's Health Care and Safety" category.

Massachusetts finished first overall, followed by Minnesota, District of Columbia, New York and Maryland, respectively.

The bottom five were Mississippi, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas.
