Legendary ESPN Anchor Stuart Scott Dead at 49
Longtime ESPN personality Stuart Scott died Sunday after a battle with cancer. He was 49.
Scott was initially diagnosed with cancer in 2007 after doctors found a tumor while removing his appendix. Four years later, the cancer returned.
He never shied away from his battle and in 2014 he received the Jimmy V Award at the ESPY Awards.
Scott rocketed to fame at ESPN shortly after joining the network for the launch of ESPN2 in 1993. He will be remembered for his catchphrases, including “Boo-yah" and “As cool as the other side of the pillow," which he generously sprinkled throughout his broadcast of the ESPN's flagship show, 'SportsCenter.'
Scott is survived by two daughters, aged 19 and 15, as well as his parents and three siblings.
