Donna Douglas, who played Elly May Clampett on the immensely popular '60s television show, 'The Beverly Hillbillies,' died yesterday (Jan. 1). According to TMZ, she was surrounded by family and friends and died at home in Louisiana. She was 81 years old.

While Donna was in a number of different movie and television projects ranging from 'The Twilight Zone' to 'Adam 12' and 'Route 66' (just to name a few), she was most famous for her role as Elly on 'The Beverly Hillbillies' which ran from 1962 to 1971. She also sued Disney in the '90s, claiming that 'Sister Act' was her original idea and that the company stole it from her. She lost that case, but settled a different case against Mattel when she sued them in 2011 for creating a doll that was supposedly created in her likeness without her permission.

Our thoughts are with Donna's family during this incredibly difficult time.
