St. Cloud City Council Gives Final Approval On Aquatic And Community Center
ST. CLOUD - The final step has been taken to create a new St. Cloud Aquatic And Community Center. The city council approved the bid, and awarded the project, to Gohman Construction during their meeting tonight (Monday).
Mayor Dave Kleis says it's a project the city voters approved 11 years ago.
The city is putting up $10 million in half-cent sales tax money. The rest of the nearly $25 million budget was raised through fundraising efforts by the Y, which wrapped-up last month.
The St. Cloud Y is partnering with the city on the facility, which will be built at Whitney Park in north St. Cloud. While the city will own the facility, the Y will operate it.
It's expected that the facility will be open in early 2017.
The Y plans to sell their current property, once the new facility opens.
