Sauk Rapids has announced that the official opening date for their new outdoor music venue, The Clearing, will be July 1st.

In a statement shared via the City of Sauk Rapids Facebook page on June 23rd, they shared:

Thursday, July 1st is the grand opening of the new Sauk Rapids Parks venue, The Clearing. It will also be the first "Riverside Nights" live music performance at the brand new 1851 Square amphitheater.

The press release shared that at 5 PM City Administration will host a brief venue dedication and ribbon cutting to mark the occasion. The event and music are totally free to attend and all are welcome.

This Thursday night music series will take place throughout the summer ending September 2nd. Here is this year's lineup:

July 1: Paul Diethelm- Stretch, Strange Daze

July 8: Todd Michael Jameson, Arena

July 15: Jen Lamb-Randolph/Jim, Pandemic

July 22: Tony Williams, Shane Martin

July 29: Dave Lumely, Switch

Aug 5: Benjamin Raye & Erica, First Circle

Aug 12: Walter’s Wheelhouse, Sweet Siren

Aug 19: The Soupbones, Rhino

Aug 26: Wanda Jam, Radio Nation

Sept 2: Kris Vox, Menace

The opening acts will start around 5:30 pm and play until 6:30 pm, with the headliners taking the stage around 7 pm and wrapping around 9:30 pm.

There have been some major changes made to Southside Park since construction began in June 2020. In addition to the new outdoor performance space, there is an events center building, a splash pad, and a smaller event space. If you haven't carved out time to see the improvements for yourself one of these Thursday night shows would be a great opportunity.
