Osakis Police Give Hilarious Warning About Removing Ice Houses

We are on track to have one of the snowiest February's on record. The police department in Osakis, Minnesota are having some fun with it. The only way to get through a Minnesota winter is with a smile. Here is what they posted on their Facebook page:

Due to weather predictions for Minnesota, the DNR is requesting all ice fishing shanties be removed from the lakes by July 3rd, prior to the fireworks.

At this point I feel like that is when the snow will finally start to melt. We have so much of it!

Of course this is a joke though, here are the guidelines for actually removing your ice houses:

Border Waters

Minnesota–Iowa - Feb. 20
Minnesota–Wisconsin - March 1
Minnesota–North and South Dakota - March 5
Minnesota–Canada - March 3

Inland Waters
Dates of removal are determined by an east-west line formed by U.S. Hwy. 10, east along Hwy. 34 to Minnesota Hwy. 200, east along Hwy. 200 to U.S. Hwy. 2, and east along Hwy. 2 to the Minnesota-Wisconsin border.
