While the four-day festival won't happen, Lupulin's potato-inspired beer is back and available now!

Like so many other summer events, Big Lake's annual Spudfest has been cancelled. "After careful consideration, it is with a heavy heart that the Big Lake Spud Fest Board has decided to cancel Spud Fest 2020," organizers shared at the Spudfest website. "This decision was made with the health and safety of our participants, vendors and sponsors in mind. We look forward to planning for the return of Big Lake Spud Fest on June 24-27, 2021."

While plans for Spudfest may have been mashed, a beer named after the festival is back on tap and available in cans now! "Spudfest is back!" shared Lupulin Brewing Company on Facebook. "Even though Big Lake's annual Spudfest Festival was cancelled this year, the beer must go on!"

So is Spudfest the beer actually made from spuds? You betcha!

"Spudfest is a 5% ABV Cream Ale made with over 50 pounds of local Big Lake potatoes," Lupulin Brewing says of the beer. "We peeled the spuds, diced them up, boiled them and then added them to the mash. Naturally hazy, crisp and crushable, with a light fruity note from the yeast we use, and a very light bitterness, it's perfect for a summer day!"
