You're going to have to find another way to say "Be Mine" this Valentine's Day!

The classic candy hearts with phrases like "Love" and "Call Me" won't be available in Minnesota this year. For that matter, they won't be available anywhere this year!

That's because the long-time Sweethearts maker Necco went out of business in 2018, selling out to Ohio-based Spangler Candy Company and closing their doors forever. Despite efforts to, Spangler Chairman and CEO Kirk Vashaw shared in a press release that they just won't be ready in time for Valentine's Day 2019.

We wish we could have Sweethearts® out for the 2019 Valentine season, but it’s just not possible. We are committed to making sure these brands meet consumer expectations when they re-enter the market. Doing it right takes time.

Necco had produced Sweethearts for 130 years before closing last year. According to CandyStore.com, the heart candies were the most popular candy purchased for Valentine's Day in 2018.

No confirmation yet on when Spangler will re-enter the market with candy conversations, but all I know is -- this Valentine's Day just won't be the same.
