Is This Amphitheatre Still Happening THIS Year in Shakopee?
A couple of years ago in 2023, there was a huge announcement stating that there would be another venue opening in Summer of 2025.
This news was received very well. It was supposed to be a huge venue - the biggest outdoor venue in Minnesota. The amphitheatre would hold 19,000 people. That's more like how Target Center and the Xcel (soon to be Grand Casino Arena) are, but both of those venues are indoors. So, to have something like this outside sounds kind of amazing.

The anticipation was growing as we approached 2025, and more specifically summer of this year.
STILL NOTHING
Nothing, as it's not open, and it looks like it's also not finished as of yet.
If you go to the Canterbury site, you will see a list of projects that are still in development. There are a couple of restaurants, hotel, track, and even an office building. At the top of the list is the Amphitheatre.
PRESS RELEASE
There is also a press release that is included with the same information, nothing updated. It does say opening "late Summer of 2025" and technically it isn't late summer until something like late August or early September. But you would think that there would have been an announcement with an actual date by now. No word so far from Canterbury or Live Nation - who will be running the amphitheatre.
EXCITING WHEN IT DOES OPEN
I think when it does open, it will be great to see a show there. But if it gets pushed too far, we will be looking forward to next summer, not summer of 2025.
The venue will deliver industry leading programming and amenities to fans, artists, and employees: ● An expected lineup of 30+ events each summer concert season ● Breathtaking 360-degree views of the Minnesota River Valley, including an intimate, covered lower bowl with prime seating, an elevated lawn, and expansive hangout spaces both indoors and outside for fans to enjoy
Looking forward to this!
