SARTELL -- After years of planning, the new Sartell High School officially got underway Monday night. The 290,000 square foot building is set to be opened in the Fall of 2019.

Jeff Schwiebert is the Superintendent of Sartell - St. Stephen Schools. He says the new building will give the district's kids an edge.

"We think this building will give that kind of 21 century opportunity for the next generation of kids to come through this district."

Schwiebert says, they’re constantly looking to save money where they can, without sacrificing quality, or student experience.

As a result, the new high school may be cheaper when it's done than the original $89.5 million dollars budgeted for it in a referendum last year.
