More Than 70 Toys Purchased From Hockey Team’s Silent Auction
****Corrected version, previously a zero was accidentally added, this update corrects the total amount of toys donated****
A local hockey team's silent auction proceeds were put to good use this week, as more than 70 toys were purchased to supply a local Toys for Tots drive. Players with the Granite City Lumberjacks were out at a local retailer Tuesday making the fun holiday purchases.
The team along with volunteers recently held a silent auction that raised $640. The Granite City Lumberjacks chipped in another $360 to make the toy-buying kitty an even $1000. The team then got to use the funds to purchase more than 70 toys for a St. Cloud Toys for Tots program.
Yesterday (Tuesday) the team got together along with local volunteers to purchase the new unwrapped toys at Target on the Eastside of St. Cloud.
The team was split up into grounds of 5, and then went off with a budget of $200 a group to spend on toys for various ages.
In total the team bought 71 toys that were then brought over to Miller Auto Plaza, and donated to their ongoing Toys For Tots donation program.
The shopping trip, yesterday, was a great way for the team to reset after a tough weekend that saw the team drop back-to-back games for the first time this year. The guys will have to shake the weekend from their memory as they are scheduled to play in Willmar tonight against the Warhawks at 7:10pm.
After Wednesday night's game the team will be on the road Friday in Blaine and then Alexandria on Saturday.
