MN’s Favorite Summer Treat Introduces New Flavor For 2025!
NEW FLAVORS
Yesterday afternoon, I visited a friend and drove by the Red Barn Dairy Queen in St. Cloud. On their signage, I saw an advertisement for a 'Crunchin' Cookie Dipped Cone,' which caught my attention. I couldn't stop thinking about it at my friend's house. A Blue cone...little crunchy bits of cookie? Is this a cookie monster cone? Why did they choose blue as the color?
DOES THAT REMIND YOU OF 'COOKIE MONSTER?'
It does appear that maybe Dairy Queen was after a 'Cookie Monster' deal with Sesame Street, but there is NO mention of Cookie Monster on any of their advertisements. So, you can leave it to your imagination, but if I had little kids, I would be asking them if they wanted to go get a Cookie Monster cone.

FLAVOR FULL OR FLAVOR LESS?
I've read a lot of mixed reviews on the cone. Some people say it doesn't have any flavor at all; some people love it. The gentleman in the video above really liked it, giving the cone an 8 out of 10.
I myself had to drive back over to the Red Bard DQ to try it for myself last night. I ordered a small cone, with an order of cheese curds. After all, what goes better with sweet, than something salty?
TRYING CRUNCHIN' COOKIE DIPPED CONE
First, I'll tell you that I do love DQ's cheese curds, and they were perfect, as usual. I didn't have to wait more than a minute for my order.
The Red Barn handed me a perfectly dipped Crunchin' Cookie Cone. I decided to pull into a parking lot so I could focus on the taste of the cone.
At first, I didn't taste much. I guess I'm used to the cherry-dipped cones, having the bright up-front flavor. But as I ate some curds, and tasted that sweet delicious ice cream, the tasty cone sort of grew on me. I liked the little crunchy cookie bits.
I see some people being handed a cup of cookie bits to go along with their cones. I did not get that, but I really wouldn't have wanted it anyway. I would say it is a good dip...but cherry dip is still my favorite dipped cone.
I've tried their Churro dipped cone they had for a while, but I guess I would have to say, I like ALL of the dips, but if I had to rate them, I would put them in this order from Best to worst. (None of these are bad!)
DIPPED CONES RATED FROM BEST TO WORST
If a Crunch Cone is considered a dip, it's my absolute favorite, and it's been my favorite since I was a kid. I thought they stopped making it, and I missed out on eating these for about 20 years of my life. Now, I usually order a Crunch Cone when I go to DQ unless I'm trying something new.
1. Crunch Cone
2. Cherry Dip
3. Chocolate Dip
4. Butterscotch
5. Crunchy Cookie
6. Confetti
7. Cotton Candy
8. Churro
I know there are probably many more dips that DQ has offered that I don't know about or remember. What is your favorite?
