Bow Ties mean something totally different in Minnesota. I'm talking about the pasta. Farfalle noodles look like little mini bow ties and can be found at almost every Minnesota pot luck or gathering. Here is the recipe for my mom's famous bow tie pasta salad.

Ingredients:

  • 1 16 oz box of farfalle pasta (bow tie noodles)
  • 1 can of SPAM, or drained canned ham
  • 1 15 oz can of sweet peas
  • 1 cup of Hidden Valley Ranch dressing
  • 1/2 cup Top the Tater
  • 1 tsp of onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • salt and pepper to taste

1. In a large pot of boiled, salted water, cook pasta until al dente, according to package directions. Drain.

2. In a large bowl add diced SPAM (or chopped canned ham), drained sweet peas, and cooked pasta.

3. Toss with ranch dressing and Top the Tater. Sprinkle and mix in the garlic and onion powder. Add salt and pepper to taste.

4.Cover with lid and place in fridge for an hour before serving.
