Minnesota State Park Makes National List of Best Places to Camp
It's always nice when your home state makes a list of "best places" no matter what the subject matter is. Well, I guess there could be some questionable "best of" lists, but this one is something to be proud of.
BEST PLACES TO CAMP
If you are someone that loves to get out and see what Mother Nature has provided us, you might want to take this one in.
The website the Dyrt has made a list. And Minnesota has a spot at number 3 on the list.
Split Rock Lighthouse State Park Campground
Coming in at number 3 on this list that includes all of the United States is a solid placement.
WHAT MAKES SPLIT ROCK GREAT
Split Rock Lighthouse State Park is laid out along the rugged shores of Lake Superior, with the namesake beacon providing a stunning backdrop to any camping adventure.
There are 46 drive-in sites with electric hookups in the Shipwreck Creek Campground, four backpacker/kayaker sites roughly 2 miles from the parking lot, and 20 cart-in sites less than a half-mile from the lot
There are also great opportunities for hiking, biking and winter activities like cross-country skiing.
WHAT CAMPGROUNDS CAME IN AHEAD OF MINNESOTA
Coming in at number 1 - Lost Lake Campground — Gunnison National Forest — Colorado
Coming in at number 2 - Sandy Springs Campground — Ohio
So, considering where both of those two are located, Minnesota getting the number 3 slot is pretty amazing. When we are competing with the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, I'm ok with the number 3 spot.
If you are wondering how much it costs for Split Rock Lighthouse State Park, here is the rundown.

Not too shabby. So, for your next camping adventure, consider heading to Split Rock Lighthouse State Park Campground.
