Jupiter And Venus Shine Bright In Our Morning Sky
This morning, as I was coming into work, I found my attention being directed to my neighbor's garage. The lights were on inside, not a common occurrence, but as I went to look back, my eyes were directed directly above the garage as there seemed to be two bright stars, so close to each other. I learned that these weren't stars, but planets!
Jupiter and Venus Are Visible
I snapped two pictures of the bright objects and drove into work, all the while keeping an eye on what I thought were stars in the eastern sky. When I got to work, I decided to Google what I was seeing, and the results were that I was catching a glimpse of both Jupiter and Venus, as they work across the sky.
Tomorrow morning, Tuesday, August 12th, if you have the time, they will appear even closer to each other, making it look like one big star.
Here is the 'best' photo I took of the planets from my driveway. I'm pleased with how it looks, because we all know night photos on a cell phone usually aren't great, but the planets did show up, and look OK. I've circled the two planets in the middle.
Meteor Shower Peaking Tuesday Into Wednesday
The two planets, visible to the naked eye, aren't the only things happening this week. From Tuesday into Wednesday, the Perseid Meteor Shower will be peaking. Unfortunately, we won't be able to see as many as we would like, as the moon will be too bright, affecting viewing.

Did you get to see Jupiter and Venus this morning? What did you think it was until you learned it was two planets?
