John Mellencamp Brings His Hits To Shakopee This Summer

John Mellencamp us bringing his "Dancing Words" tour to the brand-new Mystic Lake Amphitheatre in Shakopee this summer. Mellencamp released a promotional video, co-starring Sean Penn, to announce the tour, which will focus on the rocker's greatest hits.

In the video, Mellencamp sits at a booth across from Penn and announces his intention to play his hits on the upcoming tour.

"So I have this opportunity to go out and party again, you know, where you play for a lot of people and play all of your old hit songs, and I quit doing that 17 years ago," Mellencamp says.

"God forbid you become generous with the hits, all the soundtrack of people's lives, can't imagine you'd want to do that and actually let yourself enjoy it," Penn said. "Just because they are hits don't mean they aren't great songs, dude."

MELLENCAMP TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED

Mellencamp's tour is slated to start on July 10th in Grand Rapids, Michigan before swinging through Illinois and Missouri before its Minnesota stop on July 14th.

Presale begins on January 21st for the Shakopee show, with the public on-sale beginning on January 23rd.
