Electric Squad Cars Will Soon Patrol Streets Of Sartell
SARTELL (WJON News) -- The Sartell Police Department will be getting some new squad cars. The city will be getting four new all-electric vehicles to be used on patrol and for other tasks.
Sartell's application to the St. Cloud Area Planning Organization was approved to receive funding for the new cars from the Minnesota Carbon Reduction Program. The advantages of using electric squad cars is lower maintenance costs, lack of downtime, and almost silent vehicle operation.
The city will be buying 2 Chevy Blazer Police Pursuit SUVs and 2 Ford Mustang Mach E vehicles. The city says the technology and capabilities of the cars make them a good option for the police department. Sartell hopes the new cars will be delivered and on patrol by the end of the year.
