Tuesday is Cinco de Mayo – Celebrate at These Places in the St. Cloud Area
Today is National Star Wars Day, May the 4th be with you. And tomorrow is the 5th of May otherwise known as Cinco de Mayo in Spanish. Why don't we all just say that instead? Anyway, it's a day to go out and celebrate by having maybe a margarita (or 3) and some tacos or something along those lines.
ANYWHERE YOU LOOK, THERE IS A MEXICAN RESTAURANT IN THE AREA
Mexican restaurants are not something that we are lacking here in the St. Cloud area. There are several to choose from, so you could get something for both lunch and dinner. Score! Oh, and this year May 5th also falls on taco Tuesday, so that's kind of awesome!
WHY IS MAY FIFTH SUCH A BIG DEAL - WHAT STARTED THE CELEBRATION
After a quick Google search, I found this out.
Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. While often mistaken for Mexican Independence Day (Sept. 16), it is historically celebrated to honor the victory against foreign intervention. In the U.S., it has evolved into a widespread celebration of Mexican American culture.
We, as Americans have used the day as an excuse to socialize with yummy Mexican food and drinks. Don't we always find a reason to so just something like that? It's the American way of life.
THERE ARE SEVERAL PLACES THAT WILL HAVE DEALS - PICK YOUR FAVORITE
There are several places around the area that will have deals to celebrate the day. Of course, there is Mexican Villiage, downtown St. Cloud. There is also La Casita located in Waite Park. Those two are probably the two Mexican restaurants that have been here the longest along with Bravo Burrito located off of 33rd and Division Street in a strip mall.
There is always the fast food version if you want to get some food at a great price as basically on the go. We have Taco Bell, Taco Johns, Taco Chon and Taco Villa.
There are also some restaurants around the area that are a little more authentic. You can go to Giliberto's, Cinco de Mayo Restaurant, Taqueria La Campechana, Brito's Burrito, Los Mariachis Mexican Grill, Anejos in Sartell, there may have been more that I missed in the surrounding area.
Bottom line is that there are plenty of options, all probably with a great deal going on for tomorrow. There - now we settled what's for lunch and probably dinner too. Why not?
