- 10,500 athletes from 206 countries will be competing in the games

- 32 tons of dead fish will have to be removed from the rowing and canoeing lagoon before the events take place

- 85 Thousand security personnel will be working the games to ensure safety for everyone involved

One Year Out, Rio Continues Preparations For The 2016 Olympics

- This will be the first time South America is hosting the Olympics

- 11.5 billion dollars is the estimated cost of hosting the Olympics this year in Rio

- Ticket prices for the opening ceremony range from $60 - $1400

- Ticket prices for the events range from $6 - $365
