UPDATE: Winter Storm Watch Expanded for Heavy Snow

The National Weather Service has expanded a Winter Storm Watch to include Benton, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Sherburne, and Stearns counties for Tuesday night through Wednesday morning.

Holiday travel could be significantly impacted due to heavy snow and blowing snow. The Winter Storm Watch is in effect from 9 PM Tuesday night through Noon on Wednesday.

Travel could be very difficult. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could greatly impact holiday travel Tuesday night and Wednesday.

Snow is expected to develop in southwest Minnesota Tuesday afternoon and spread northeast during the evening. Slick roads and a slow Wednesday morning commute are possible.
