Frost Likely, Snow Possible in MN the Next Week
With cooler temps on the way, Northern Minnesota could begin to see snow by next week.
Wednesday marks 76 years since the earliest 1-inch snowfall in the Twin Cities. While it doesn't look like we'll see any snow this Wednesday, there is talk of snowfall in Northern Minnesota as early as this upcoming Sunday.
WCCO meteorologist reports: "There may be snow mixed with Sunday night into Monday near the Canadian boarder in extreme northern Minnesota. Here we go!"
The National Weather Service of the Twin Cities also forecasts chilly weather and frost for Central Minnesota as early as this Friday:
"Friday will likely see highs struggle to hit 50, while Saturday night, it is looking increasingly likely that we will see our first widespread frost of the season, with a good freeze across central MN into northwest WI."
Speculation still swirls for the winter ahead, after contradicting weather predictions from the Old Farmer's Almanac -- calling for a "warm, dry winter" -- and the Farmer's Almanac calling for a "teeth chattering" winter.
Potential for frost overnight aside, the St. Cloud forecast for the rest of the week looks promising with highs in the low to mid 50's and mostly sunny.
One way or another, winter will arrive in Minnesota. Don't let it ruin the fun; plan a trip to this year's Winter Festival!
