Former Minnesota Viking Considers Retirement from the NFL
One of Minnesota’s favorite sons and football players is considering retirement. Former Minnesota Viking and current Carolina Panther Adam Thielen told media members in Charlotte earlier this week that he’s going to decide whether he will call it a career or come back for year 12.
Thielen told reporters during the Panthers exit interviews on Monday that he was going to take two weeks and focus on his family and not football. Thielen said he would then see how his body felt before making his decision.
The Minnesota State graduate had 48 catches for 615 yards and 5 touchdowns this past season for a Panthers team that was expected to struggle and did so until the last eight weeks or so when Bryce Young was re-inserted to the line up as the starter and played much better.
Thielen was a constant for Young, who is in his second season, and had been written off by many after a bad first year and restarting with a new coaching staff for the second straight year.
Adam Thielen is a fan favorite here in Minnesota as well as in Charlotte among Panthers fans too. The Thielen foundation which he has with his wife Caitlin, has contributed to schools and charities in the Tar Heel state as well as here in Minnesota.
Being from North Carolina, I have become a Vikings fan but still root for the Panthers too. And I’ve been a fan of Adam Thielen since his rookie season with the Vikings. I hope he will feel like giving it once more go next year, which is the last year of his contract.
But no matter when Adam Thielen calls it a career, I hope at the very least he can sign a one-day contract with the Vikings and retire as a member of the purple and gold.
