The Thielen deal back to the Vikings had been rumored for a while before it happened, and the Panthers and Vikings were finally able to come to terms. Last week, the General Manager of the Carolina Panthers, Dan Morgan, told Charlotte radio station WFNZ that Thielen had come to him saying he wanted to return to Minnesota.

Morgan talking to Afternoon Show host Kyle Bailey said that the Panthers wanted to keep Thielen because of the impact he had made over the last couple of years, but Morgan, who was a standout player for the Panthers at Linebacker, understands the position players find themselves in, especially when the end of their career if closer than the beginning.

Morgan went on to say that Thielen sat down in his office and was really adamant that he wanted to return to Minnesota, saying that he wanted to finish his career here. Dan Morgan expressed an understanding of the fact that Thielen is from Minnesota, and the fact he has young kids and has family who still lives here, those factors also played a big part in the trade.

Morgan understood the human side of this possibility but wanted to make sure he did the right thing for the Panthers in getting equitable value back for one of the few bright spots in the Panthers offense the last two years.

Morgan said the first few offers from the Vikings would have been "giving Thielen away", which would not work for Carolina.

In the end, Adam Thielen got what he wanted and that was to become a Minnesota Viking again, and the Panthers got something in return which they need desperately, draft picks or trade stock for next season, no matter what happens this year.

Sources are saying that Thielen agreed to shave two million dollars off his upcoming salary to make the deal a reality, because the Panthers were unwilling to pay part of the salary that was to be on their books for the upcoming season.

Adam Thielen was a difference maker in Carolina and a fan favorite, but his work ethic, and reputation as a player that puts it all on the line each week helped him make a return to the Minnesota Vikings a reality.
