It's curtains for the May-December couple.

Demi Moore has pulled the plug on her six year marriage to Ashton Kutcher.

She released a statement today saying that the filing comes with "great sadness" and a "heavy heart". She goes on to say that, "As a woman, a mother and a wife, there are certain values and vows I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life. This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation."

The split comes amid rumors of Ashton's infidelity. Ashton, 34 is a frequent user of the social networking site Twitter, but had recently said that he was going to stop using the site as some of his tweets about the Penn State scandal had gotten him into trouble, but today he posted that he will "forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world, and unfortunately, sometimes they fail."

Demi and Ashton got married in September 2005.
